Meet the Team!

Meet the team...learn the stories behind the faces...
At VCG, we are a small, close-knit family. We enjoy the fact that we are a more intimate atmosphere, making for individual attention to each and every one of our clients and patients.  You can rest assured that your pets are receiving the best of the best with the latest, high tech equipment, knowledge, and personal care.

Miss Jade! Not spoiled at all...

Dr. Geoffrey Riggin
Raised in Memphis, TN, Dr. Geoffrey Riggin has always been surrounded by animals - large and small.  After obtaining a bachelor's degree in microbiology from the University of Florida, Doc returned to TN to receive his doctoral degree in 1989 from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine.
Whether your cat needs a yearly check up, your horse needs a pregnancy ultrasound exam, or your dog needs serious orthopaedic surgery, rest assured that Dr. Riggin possesses the knowledge, expertise and gentle touch that each animal deserves.
When he's not helping your pets or maintaining the practice, Doc enjoys spending time outdoors, home remodeling and working on his classic 1967 Cougar!  Dr. Riggin and his wife, Samm, own and operate a 40 acre farm in Greenback.

Samm has been with the clinic from the get go...Back in January 1999!  Working as a veterinary technician after finishing schooling in New Orleans, Samm feels that she has devoted her life to critters for over 20 years and counting!   And to add to her career, she has recently completed the Equissage Canine Sports Massage Therapy certification program!
When not working, Samm enjoys spending time with her animals, especially the horses and Ross the WonderCat - the (recently retired) H.A.B.I.T. cat.  She is also on the board of directors of  the only horse rescue in East TN, HorseHaven of TN (www.horsehavenoftn.com)  .  A member of FoxTROT, Samm loves to trail ride and competitive trail ride.

Gae!
Gae lives in Greenback with her father on their 50 acre farm - "Will-O-Spring Farm."  Gae has had an illustrious career as a licensed veterinary technician after her educational path at the University of Tennessee.  Some of you may recognize Gae - she comes to us after working at the Midland Pet Emergency Center where she was the senior technician.
An avid "antiquer", gardener, and traveler, Gae spends her "free time" with family, friends and her many rescued critters - including horses, dogs, cats and funky chickens and ducks!
We are proud to have Ms Gae Payne as a member of our little family!

Kerry
After relocating from Ohio seven years ago, Kerry makes her home in Tellico Plains.  An avid animal lover, she has been working as a veterinary technician for over eleven years.  Her love of people and their pets is obvious in her work ethic and shining personality.  Kerry is an active member of TICA (The International Cat Association) and breeds Selkirk cats.  In her spare time, she likes to go boating, horseback riding and spending time with her family.

Macy!

At just 17 years of age, Macy is fabulous with the animals.  She has been working part time with us since the summer of 2009.  Macy makes sure that each and every pet gets the individual attention that they deserve - especially on the weekends.
When she's not working, Macy is a student at Greenback High School and loves horseback riding, soccer and spending time with family and friends.
